- Minimum education level: Primary Educational Qualification
- Able to listen and speak in English at ESS Level 4
- Able to read and write in English at ESS Level 4, alternatively undergone a pre-qualifying test during registration

- Guards and patrol officers are often responsible for monitoring access points and verifying the identity and authorization of individuals attempting to enter restricted areas.
- Access control is the process of regulating who is allowed to access a particular area or resource. This can include physical access to a building or facility, access to information or data, or access to equipment or machinery

- LU1: Preparing for guard and patrol duties

- LU3: Handling of Telephone Calls and Lost and Found Properties
- LU4: Performing patrol duties
- LU5: Write Reports and Hand Over Duties
Operate Basic Security Equipment:
- LU1: Operating access control equipment
- LU2: Operating alarm monitoring equipment
- LU3: Operating CCTV monitoring equipment
Learning Outcomes
Provide Guard and Patrol Services
- LO1: Carry out guard and patrol duties according to organisational procedures and legal requirements.
- LO2: Ensure the proper use of equipment for assigned security operations that is in accordance to organisation standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- LO3: Identify the various organisation stakeholders involved in guard and patrol activities.
- LO4: Report incidents during assigned guard and patrol activities.
- LO5: Handle calls in accordance to organisation SOPs.
- LO6: Handle theft incidents in accordance to organisation SOPs and relevant legal requirements.
- LO7: Handle prohibited and hazardous items.
- LO8: Carry out patrol of building premises with the use of mobile devices.
- LO9: Inform and report issues and situations during the conduct of guard and patrol activities to appropriate authorities.
- LO10: Adopt the correct methods of recording incidents in occurrence book.
- LO11: Check and return all equipment for handing over to incoming shift.
Operate Basic Security Equipment
- LO1: Identify different types of access control equipment and their limitations.
- LO2: Operate and perform basic troubleshooting on access control equipment.
- LO3: Handle equipment for access control operations in accordance to organisational procedures.
- LO4: Identify and report any unauthorised and illegal items in the documentation record.
- LO5: Operate alarm monitoring equipment.
- LO6: Report alarms from alarm monitoring equipment.
- LO7: Operate CCTV monitoring equipment.
- LO8: Report alarms from CCTV monitoring equipment.
Mode of Learning
Primary mode of learning for this course is Face-to-Face Classroom session. This will be supplemented with interactive role play sessions which serves to connect newly-learned knowledge and skills with the realities of the workplace and jobs.
